Comparé à ses voisins, le Danemark est un pays assez petit. Il faut moins de trois heures de train pour relier Copenhague à la deuxième ville du pays, Aarhus, dans le Jutland. Le climat du Danemark est généralement doux. Les hivers sont froids (de 0 à 5 degrés Celsius) mais magnifiques, souvent mais pas toujours, enneigés. Copenhague est célèbre pour ses marchés de Noël et, en automne comme en hiver, il est toujours possible d’assister à un concert en salle ou à d’autres événements en salle.
A Copenhague, il est toujours facile de trouver des cafés accueillants à des prix raisonnables pour les étudiants, tant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur.
Étudier au Danemark signifie que vous rencontrerez l’ancien culte du “hygge”, qui est presque impossible à traduire complètement, mais qui est un sentiment spécial de chaleur et de confort, avec de la bonne nourriture et des boissons en plus ! Copenhageners are generally friendly, helpful and most of them speak English. Exchanges with Danes generally take place in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Public transportation is very developed there, bicycle being the most practical. Getting around by bike is extremely easy. Students recommend buying a second-hand bike. Otherwise, Danish law states that all bicycles left on public roads belong to whoever finds them (they have a yellow ring on the wheel).

La monnaie danoise s’appelle couronne (DKK). Le Danemark ne fait pas partie de l’Union monétaire européenne, mais vous pourrez peut-être utiliser des euros dans certains magasins de Copenhague. Veuillez noter que le taux de change est élevé : 1 euro équivaut à environ 7,5 couronnes.

Procedures
ID Card or passport (compulsory for destinations outside the EU) valid for six months after your return date.
Upon your arrival in Denmark, you must obtain a Danish Identification Number (CPR) by registering your Danish address (by showing an official rental agreement) with the municipality. A CPR number is required to obtain medical assistance, open a bank account, find a job, register for student accommodation, etc.
Getting a CPR number may take some time, which is why we ask you to take out a travel insurance from your home country covering medical insurance, to ensure that you will have enough to pay for the first costs.

Accommodation
Finding an accommodation in Copenhagen is very difficult and time consuming, so please do your research early in advance.
Plan a rent of DKK 3,500 to 4,500 per month, depending on location and standing. Most landlords ask for a deposit, which is normally 1 month’s rent for a room and 3 months’s rent for an apartment.
Watch out for scams and beware of “too good to be true” offers. Beware of owners who are abroad, traveling, or who cannot meet with you in person. If possible, personally check the room or apartment.
